Hedgehogs

There's no denying that hedgehogs are very cute. But before you take the plunge and buy one, there are some things to take into consideration.

Hedgehogs can be hard to handle. They are, after all, a little prickly. They also tend to be a bit cranky, and require a bonding period before they can be treated the way you'd like to treat a pet.

Hedgehogs require careful temperature control. Because they naturally hibernate, you have to keep the temperature high enough to keep them from moving into a state of torpor. If a hedgehog being kept as a pet tries to hibernate, it can make the hedgehog very sick, or even kill it.

Overall, though, hedgehogs are fairly easy to take care of. With a little advance research and a little diligence, you can keep your hedgehog safe and healthy for a long time.
